Newbie: loosing connection one way

Greetings,

I have a win98se workstation is loosing its connection to a win2000 workstation linked through a hub. win2000 always sees win98se but win98se looses its connection after a few hours. When I reboot it always reconnects.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you.

TCP/IP and Netbeui are on both machines.
They are also part of the same workgroup.

Going back to your first post, I don't get what you mean by this:

The win98 workstation disconnects (it does not appear in network neighborhood but a third computer on the same workgroup shows up) from the win2000 workstation.
The win2000 sees the win98 but the win98 doesn't see the win2000.

the question is can you ping the machines back and forth when it dissapears from network neighborhood? is IP still working and netbeui is not? try netbios over ip instead.

Yes I can ping both ways. I disabled Netbeui without result. With only TCP/IP, when log out and re-login I can browse win2000 but eventually I loose it even if I can ping it.

Please, I still need to find an answer!

When you can't see the Windows 2000 computer, can you still type \\computername into the address bar in Windows Explorer to see the shared folders?
