I find it strange that you can access google ok but not others. Do you have DNS servers configured correctly in the NIC properties?

You can ping google? Can you ping other sites? It's very odd that you can only access google. If you couldn't ping google i would guess that you have cached google and are accessing it locally. Check that when you're at google it doesn't say working offline at the top of internet explorer (i'm guessing thats your browser). Do you have a firewall running, and check that windows firewall isn't enabled. Open a dos prompt and run ipconfig /all for both computers on the lan and post the result.

How are the PCs connected? Are you using a hub or switch, or do you have a crossover cable from the host to PC2? You have 2 NICs in the host so I assume the second NIC (the PCI) listed in your config is connected to a broadband connection and the first (onboard) is connected to PC2. Are you running ICS? ICS will take care of all the "nitty grity" of the share.
Basically, your secondary PC should obtain an IP address from your primary PC so it should have the IP of the primary as its DHCP server. Here's how to setup ICS: On the Primary PC, view your network connections (you can find this in Control Panel). There should be displayed the Internet Connection and the network card that you will use to share to the rest of the computers. Right click the Internet Connection and click 'Properties'. Click the 'Advanced' tab and you will see halfway down the option to 'Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection'. Check this box and then in the drop-down box labelled: 'Home networking connection' choose the network card that is connected to the rest of the computers in your home/office. That is it! The conection is now shared to the Secondary PCs. The rest of the job is configuring the Secondary PCs. To do this, go into the properties of the network card on each Secondary PC and set the TCP/IP settings to 'Obtain IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server address automatically'. Now the Secondary PCs are configured to ask the Primary PC for a network address when they turn on. To test that everything is working properly, use the IPConfig tool to find out the IP address of the Primary PC on its network card that is doing the sharing. Then use it again on the secondary PCs to verify that the Primary PC's Address is listed as the DHCP server. Remember the primary PC must be up and running BEFORE you turn on the secondary. Hope this helps. |
