Question OSX slow file transfer

network consisting of:
1) win2k
1) winXP
2) OS 10.3 +
2) OS9

Router = Netgear 10/100 (DS108)

Problem:
Super slow transfer speeds between the OSX boxes and any other, including each other. Oddly, transfer between non-osx boxes seems fine.

Help! Please! I'll offer my design and production services for free (within reason) to anyone who can help me figure this out!

I had the same problem when I purchased a SMC gigabit switch. I have the following:

Dual G5 Gigabit
P4 3ghz Gigabit
Athlon 2100 10/100
p3 800 server 10/100
netgear fvs318 router 10/100

the router is connected to the cable modem and the rest of the network via a few other 10/100 switches.

When I had mixed the gigabit connections with the 10/100 in the same switch, it would take over an hour to transfer 600mb over the gigabit. For grins, I hooked up a Linksys 10/100 switch via the uplink to the SMC gigaswitch and Isolated my gigabit connections. Now my network transfer is up to full speed, and transferring large files to/from the mac or even pc to 10/100 connections is fine as well...

So basically the gigaswitch is connected to the uplink on the linksys switch. one port on the linksys switch is connected to the uplink port on the router. The rest of the network is run through other switches connected to the router as well...

So far, no problems...

I can't be certain, but if you are transferring data at slower than 10mbit (internet) when a mac is connected to the same network, the routing also slows down... If you can isolate the route, it seems to help in my case.
