Problem with static IP address.. Please help

Hi all,

My problem is that I configured my PC to have a static address. But after rebooting the PC, the PC kicks out the static IP address and get a dynamic IP address from the DHCP server. Also, the option in TCP/IP Properties changed back to obtain an IP address automatically. Do u expect the problem is related to a registry entry or something like that. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Mido

I do not believe that this is a registry issue. What OS are you running, XP, 2000 etc? Make sure that you check the selection use the following IP address and make sure that you select ok when exiting that window.

It's quite possible that the LAN connection that you are using has errors within it that are not resolveable.. You might want to consider creating a new connection to see if that works.

Hope this might help.

The OS is W2k server. I checked use the following IP address and pressed OK and I tried it many times. The problem was solved by removing and installing TCP/IP protocol. I still don't know what was the problem but it is solved and that what I need for the time.

Thanks for your help.
