computers do not appear in my network places
Hi,
I set the 2 required ip's on each machine 192.168.0.1 Host/ 192.168.0.2 on the client machine + the default gateway of 192.168.0.1. Back to the host and set the internet connection to sharing and ping each other sucessfully. THe client quickly sorts the gateway up in the network connections window and the packets are being sent each way. You can see that the BT Broadband gateway connection is working by looking in the network connections on the client machine, so why is the page coming up as not displayed on pressing internet explorer?? How do you force internet explorer to use this connection on opening web pages up? A friend of mine told me to open internet options and then connections and tick never dial a connection to sort it. This worked a few times until this option was ghosted out from chosing it or ticking/selecting it?? Anyone got any ideas on a quick sort on this type of problem?? One thing that sometimes works is to run the network wizzard which quickly works out that there is a gateway for internet sharing but also changes or my manual settings i want to keep! Darren |

check if you can browse to http://66.102.9.104 - if you can, then there is a dns problem like juniperr says.

Google worked
Hi Ed,
I have not set any DNS settings on the host, where would i get these settings from? The Google page loaded up from the address you gave in the last post Msn and Yahoo also loads too and signs in ok and like i said if i was to run the wizzard ( on the client ) it would probally get the internet working, the broadband connection is showing connected. Still nothing in the workgroup for either machine though on the client, on the host it shows itself only??? Darren |

You'll need to go to the website for your ISP and find the IP addresses of the two DNS servers. If you can't find the addresses on their site, you may need to email/telephone them. Then, just enter the details in the network connection settings. |
