Question Puzzle!!! I can ping, but I can't see that website with IE ??!!??!!

Dear all:
Recently my network has some problem... I could not access the internet. I called my ISP and confirmed that connection was good. I tried to ping www.yahoo.com, coming back with good response. However, when I typed in www.yahoo.com, the page did not load and timeout.

The setup is

ISP DSL router <--> NETGEAR wireless router <--> CISCO Switch <--> Servers and client workstations

After replacing NETGEAR wireless router with D-Link, everything went fine.... Is it a known NETGEAR router bug or?

I also tried to telnet yahoo's public IP with port 80, and then GET / the first page.... It got no response.

Obviously, my http port was blocked, but it was totally fine the day before and nobody has touched anything.

The most weird thing is, today when I did a re-test, the setup as below:

ISP DSL router <---> NETGEAR wireless router <---> laptop

It actually worked, both pinging and accessing websites are fine.

Now I am confused... Is it my NETGEAR router? CISCO switches? Server DHCP? Or I was just harrassed by some hacker?

Any comment is appreciated. =)

Have you got the latest firmware on all your equipment?

It's strange that both the netgear and cisco switch seem to work separately, but not together. Try using the netgear with a different model switch.

Talking

Thanks for the reply Edwin:
Yes, I have updated my firmware to the latest on Netgear official website

I have done some research, and found out that netgear routers have had some problems with SBC DSL routers (SpeedStream and some Caymen series)... I am not sure if that source is very accountable... But so far I will leave it as it is. I do not dare to play around with it and bring down the whole connection again =)

I have heard that some other people are experiencing problems with NETGEAR wireless router having conflict with the DSL modem/ router.

The problem is solved after I replaced some other brand. That is about it... Thanks for replying =)
