I need to open ports in rouder for PS2
I need get my PS2 online and I need to open ports in my firewal to host games for my PS2 and i need to know where to go to open these ports. I use Windows 98 and D-link router.
I need to know how to open ports to be able to host games. I have Norton Antivirus if that does anything. |

I've a feeling that the ports needed change depending on what game you're using. For example, the following site says you need to open 5150 for THPS3 games:
http://www.neversoft.com/online_gui...s/firewalls.htm But I guess you need to research each game individually. |

You sure you need to open ports...? I have a ps2 and a D-Link and it lets me do whatever I want with the PS2... Or else do like edwinbrains told you to do and go on the routers home page from your browser to fix up the open ports/routing options. (If you didn't know the router's site should be at 192.168.0.1, if not then 10.0.0.1)

The sofware on your computer (or firewall) won't affect the PS2 at all... To set up the routing, you need to know the IP address of your PS2. What you do, (what I do... with mine DI-704P) is that you go to the routers "home page" by typing http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar, and I'm pretty sure you need to do this while the PS2 network adapter is in use, then click on LAN on the first page, then look at the bottom. There should be 2 IP's, your computer's and you PS2's. You should know which is which... To "open" the ports, I can't really explain becuase my router is messed up so I can't access the page and my network is down. '
I'm still convinced you DON'T need to open ports!!! I hosted many games, ranging from ATV offroad fury 2 to this NFL game on a demo disc, and never did I once need to mess with anything... |

And to open them, do what I did... |

Question and general info to share
I would like to know how I can join/host in Need for Speed-Underground and not ATV Offroad Fury 2, all the while behind a router w/ firewall/NAT. I have the IP for the PS2 in the DMZ as well as the ports needed according to the book and Sony support. However, support only gave me the standard 10070-10080 TCP & 10070 UDP response for ATV 2. My question is that I want to know if anyone did anything different for ATV 2 than another game.
Just a note for anyone having trouble getting the IP for the PS2, ping your local gateway (generally the private ip with 255 at the end...e.g. 192.168.xxx.255). It won't appear to do much, but follow up with command "arp -a" and it will show IP and MAC of active connections, so have the PS2 seeking a connection before you send arp -a. |
