routing tables
Hello. I have a Red Hat 9 box set up as a router. eth0 currently goes to a linksys router, eth1 goes to a windows box with a crossover cable and everything works great. I would like the linux box to act as a firewall and no longer use the router. I plug in the cable modem to eth0 and say route del default, then restart the computer. but then i cant get online on the windows box. What am i doing wrong? I was thinking it was a problem with my route ?

doesnt sound to be a routing issue since the linux can browse out to internet and the windows can not yet the windows already had a default gateway to linux box. sounds to me you did not enable ip masquerading ( NAT/PAT in linux world) on the linux box.
