set up a home network...or maybe it will just crash...
hello again everyone!! I am running winxp pro! I have just got my router and the internet is great on all machines
but the network is not...the router has replced my server which was just a ICS jobby. Since getting the router the network has not worked, i can't access other machines etc! so ok i thought i will sort it today..go and set up home networks on all the machines and all will be hunky doory...errrm no i have tried on two machines.. and both times i get to the point where it says please wait setting up this may take a few mins and it just stays there and stays there and stays there and... you get the picture.. i have left it for an hour or so on one machine and it just keeps sending the computer across...when i do CTRL, ALT + DEL it says runnin so it has not really crashed but.. im not sure what to do or why it is happening... can anyone advise me ![]() thanks RF

ah well, the network setup wizard isn't that good anyway
![]() You've got a router, so just make sure that DHCP is enabled on that, then set each computer to obtain an IP address automatically. Check that each computer does get a good IP address, then try pinging between them. |

ok, thanks it says request timed out...i have narrowed that down to zonealarm...
when i turn ZA off it is fine...but back on it stops....I have tried setting up a trusted range 192.168.0.0 - 255.255.255.0 but that doesnt help it says request timed out still any ideas as to how i get round this as i wanna keep the firewalls there if poss for added protection!!cheers RF |

I'm not sure, as I don't have ZoneAlarm. Perhaps try entering in the exact Ip address of the computer and see if that helps.
