Set up DNS role at Win3k server

I just managed to solved the previous problem and my client PC is a member of my domain on Win3k pc.

Currently, I can connect to the Internet but it doesn't allow me to view any website. Meanwhile there's error occured for the DNS server configuration. Is there any related problem that disallow me to surf the internet?

Anyone can help me with the problem or providing links on how to setup DNS server

To install DNS server on Windows 2003 Server, just open up the Manage Your Server wizard and add a new role, and select DNS server. The wizard will guide you through the setup process and it is quite straightforward.

When you have completed, you probably need to open up the DNS manager and right-click your server name. Select Properties, and click the Forwarders tab. Enter in the IP addresses of your ISPs DNS servers. Once you have done this, set each client to use the server as their DNS server in the Local Area Connections properties. Then, when they try and access the Internet, the DNS queries should automatically be forwarded to the ISP, allowing them to be resolved OK.

Thanks. DNS problem solved.

After I proceed the window updates for some critical patches then I reboot the server. Before that I'd reboot a couple times.

When the next restart the Win3k server couldn't start and it prompt something like 'security account manager.... Directory services cannot start... error status 0xc00002e1'
Then I click ok it will restart the win3k pc.

Next I press F8 into directory controller restore.... I checked the event viewer and it show a couple of errors.

1) Active directory could not be initialized because the shema could not be loaded.
2) Internal error: An active directory error has occured.
Additional data
Error value (decimal)
5
Error value (hex)
5
Int ID
30d05d2
3) The active directory schema cache load could not convert the default security descriptor on the following shema
class object
security descriptor

Any idea without rebuild the win3k? I checked at the support.microsoft.com, the solution is to restore the domain controller from the backup tape..

What are the event IDs and sources listed in the Event Viewer for these errors?

Thanks.
