What's kind of amusing though is that you started this thread with a working access point and the hope to set the DHCP range. By the end, we had forgotten about the DHCP server (after realising it to be impossible) and were only worried about finding the IP address of your wireless access point again!
I have no idea why the power cut reset everything (I suppose in the future this could possibly be a bad thing if it resets after you configure it again with lots of settings). Anyway, computers are REALLY strange, so I suppose we should just be glad that it's OK for now

yes well in some ways i wish i had never started the post !! just think how much time i would have saved! but then again i woul dhave been left wondering !!

true this could be a bad thing in the furute....maybe i need to invest in a UPS setup for my system setup here!! when i have the cash!

You start doing one thing only to find something else that doesn't work or goes wrong. Anyway, although you haven't solved the problem of the DHCP server, you have increased your knowledge and know how to do it in the future.
