setting up a router to accept wireless
I have a wireless linksys router and I would like it to be able to receive the internet signal from another wireless router. I am really not sure what to do here. I can connect to the other router no problem with a normal wireless card, but I have another computer that I need to set up that is not wireless so I need to get the router working.
The manual on the router doesn't mention anything about connecting to another router. Thanks for the help |

I'm a bit confused by your situation. Perhaps you could expand a little...
Couldn't you just plug the computer straight into the router? |

I have 2 wireless routers. The first one has the internet cable to it the other has a couple computer that are connected to it by cable. I need the second router to recieve the internet signal and provide internet access to the computers that are connected to it.
I hope that is clearer |

Sort of... I'm still not sure why you're using two routers.
Anyway, I presume this is a pretty small network and everything is connected on the same subnet. If the computers connected to the second router can see and ping the first router, they should be able to access Internet directly from that router, without needing the second router. So, set the first router up how you want it. On the second router, disable things like DHCP server (this should probably be running on the first router). Connect your computer to the second router, and make sure that it's default gateway gets set to the IP address of the first router. Then, you should be able to access the Internet OK. If this isn't what you want, then just tell me and I'll try and help again ![]() |

Plain and simple you can't do that with that router. You need a wireless card for you PC. The only type of router that can do that is not really a router its a booster and it still would require a access card of some flavor on the PC. Sorry man!!!
