Sharing internet over world like dsl???

Hello,

I doubt this is possible, but anything is possible. Ok, you know how DSL works. DSL company allows ur DSL modem to work online. Now could a friend allow you to go online through his pc. Exaclty like DSL w/ a modem too.

I'm not really sure what you're asking...

You have a computer. There also seems to be a friends computer - is this located in the same house as your computer, or some distance away in another house? Are you trying to ask if you can connect to the Internet through a friends PC which is not in the same location as you? If you are, then I don't believe this could ever be possible. In order to access your friends PC, you'd have to use the Internet, and you're only going to be able to connect to his PC using a modem over the Internet.

Well,

I mean that I want to access the internet using someone else's house's internet. I know that DSL is accually plug in and play. Then your ISP will allow you to access there computers, which allows you access the world wide web. I was wondering if it was possible to do the same with just 2 different houses. House A will have a DSL modem plugged in. House B would somehow allow it to use the internet that it has??? I doubt this is possible. I was just curious to know.

Well thanks,
alan

What you're asking wouldn't really make sense. To use the Internet which someone else is sharing, you'd have to have a connection to the other house. If you could get a network cable to his house, you could easily share his Internet connection no problem.

However, if the house is some distance away, the only way you'd be able to connect to his house would be through the Internet. In order to access the Internet, you'd have to have a modem, in which case it wouldn't make sense in sharing his connection.

Hope I've understood you correctly

If he is like one or two houses away you could also setup wireless networking and there are sites on making very strong boosters that the FCC will kill you for having that could get a neighborhood block or so, hehe!

This is possible, you could in therory dial into this persons pc from another loction and then he could route your connection to the internet gateway on his network. But I don't know why you would ever want to do this? I mean the broadband access would be lost over your dial up connection to his pc. This is basically what a dial up ISP account does, shares a broadband connection (several T3's, T1's) to dial up users. So the answer is yes, but this other person would have to do all the work on his end.

Well what I mean is that access his pc like using dsl, if he can route my pc to allow it to get its internet. Like DSL (which is plug in and play from my side) and allow his pc to go to my dsl modem.

If all I bet u cant do it the way want,

was a silly thing to begin with

thanks to all who responded

That almost sounds like you want to host a server or something. If you're both connected to the Internet with DSL you can quite easily host servers. What I mean is that you could setup a game server or web server or something on your computer, which you friend could easily access from his computer. Anyway, I don't think that was what you were asking... just telling you anyway
