Small Home Network
Hello folks,
I am running a laptop with WinXP pro and a desktop with win xp home. a Motorola Surfboard cable modem is plugged into my D-Link dl-524 802.116 2.4ghz wireless router. An ethernet cable is plugged into my ethernet port on my desktop, and a wireless card is running fine on my laptop. Both computers share an internet connection fine. They both can access the internet at all times. The things I'm having trouble with are: I cannot seem to get either computer to recognize the other. I have disabled ZoneAlarm on both computers, both computers have different ip address's but the same subnet. When I run the network setup wizard, I put both computers in the MSHOME network, but neither one recognizes the other. What can I do? Thanks. |

Try this
You may want to try joining them both to a different workgroup. The othe issue I had with my Dlink router was I had to setup a rule allowing the ports on the LAN side to view each other. Give both of them a try.

How do I set-up the rule?
I have no clue how to do that.
Also, I tried doing them both under a different name, and it doesn't work |

Can you ping from one computer to another. Click Start, Run and type cmd. In the command prompt, type "ping 192.168.0.x" (without the quotes, and replacing x with the correct number of the other computer).
