Hi all,
I am new here, I found this thread on a search and I am really deperate because I am having this same problem. Do anyone have any idea why this happens? I restaged once, not willing to do it again. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. ____________________________________________________ "TCP/IP stops working after reboot -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Im getting major headaches with this can anyone help !!! If I uninstall, reboot then reinstall TCP/IP I can ping localhost and other domains and get replies, but as soon as I reboot the computer and ping locahost I get 'request timed'. I then loose access to my home network So I have to start the whole process again - uninstall, reboot then reinstall has anyone ever experienced this before is possible somehow that TCP/IP in being corrupted every time I reboot" ___________________________________________________ Thanks |

The most important parts of your question are strangely ommited.
What OS? Version? Home network? (Router? switch? hub? Wireless LAN?) Are you requiring DHCP? Assigning IPs to your machine? and others? Getting a request timed out doesn mean that you are losing your TCP/IP (not most of the time). Since you said your on a network, It very well could be that another machine (PC, print server etc.) has the same IP. So when you do reboot, you win the battle. But eventually another machine wins. Give some more detail. I have worked with networks for a long time and as hard as it may be to find the answer, it is mostly the easiest conclusion when the problem is fixed. |

Details
Thanks for your response SS.
What OS? Windows 2000 Version? Professional Home network? Hub, assigning IPs to machine. No IP duplication. Strange thing is that I can still connect to Yahoo and my email smtp server works, however, my internet explorer does not navigate nor my MSN connects. The other computers on the network work perfectly good. When I try to access my DSL with 10.0.0.1 it cannot see it. Now, when I unistall TCP/IP - Restart - Install it again, everything comes back to normal untill the next time that I turn it off. Thanks for any suggestion. ![]() |

help
try this first look for software called Newnet or New.Net which causes it so I remove this first from add/remove progs
> -then you need to remove all TCP/IP from Networks but DON'T restart when> it prompts you to > -then you need to go into the Registry Editor (have you been here before? start > run > regedit > click ok > -Good practice is to make a back up of the registry in case it goes tits up ( i don't though). To do this click on registry (top left of window) > and export and call it something like regbackup and save it to somewhere > the cmr is familiar with. > -expand (click on the + symbol) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > expand System > > expand current control set > expand services > highlight winsock2 and > delete it > click on registry and exit > - restart PC > reinstall TCP/IP and restart again and that should be it > mate. |

![]() ------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks for your information, it was very useful and I can safely reboot my computer now. ![]() Do you have any idea on what could have caused this?
