Very Complicated internet sharing problem
So There's the main hub in another room. Wireless. My laptop has wireless internet and connects to that hub for internet access. I recently put a desktop in my room. The desktop has no internet. so I connected a lan from my laptop to a hub and then from the hub, another cable to the desktop hoping to share the internet access. It doesn't work. Laptop has: Linksys Instant Wireless Connection and Broadcom 440X 10/100 - Lan Cable. From lan cable I connected to a cabletron hub, port 9, *correct port I believe to upload internet? anyway. From port 1 I have lan cable to Desktop. Desktop runs WIN ME , Laptop runs WIN XP. Desktop has NETGEAR FA331 PCI ethernet Controller. ME can run XP networking wizard, but that doesn't help. setting LAN on laptop to "share" doesn't work, because then it sets LAN as automatically source for internet meaning I get no internet *wirelsss gives internet. so I can only "share" wireless. dunno-? From Desktop PCI ethernet to hub, color of light is orange. if directly connect desktop to laptop, color of light is green. desktop everything is set to automatically find ip. SAme workgroup. No internet connection for desktop. Please help. Thank you very much.
