I am tired as i am trying to solve this puzzle since 4 days.
My Problem is, I connects via VPN to a PC who have Internet Connection sharing available there but I can't access internet once i connected to that PC. here is more clear view: PC1 = my PC PC2 = my Friend's PC ISP1 = Just backbone no Internet Access ISP2 = Broadband Internet Access PC1 - VPN CLIENT(XP) - ISP1 - VPN SERVER(XP) - PC2 - ISP2 VPN connection seems OK. as I can ping that machine and can access data of PC2. But can't surf on internet. thanks for your time and support in advance ![]() regards, aashu |

Why are you trying to access the Internet through your friends PC? If you've connected to his computer over VPN, you must have a good connection to the Internet. Why not just use this to access web pages from?

interesting question ...
here is answer ... actually ISP1 is special division of ISP2 ... so backbone is same but ISP1 have just VPN type of access and just for data not for internet. where ISP2 have internet access. so backbone is good but no internet access with ISP1. hope you got my point. thanks for your reply ![]() |

Well, this is a strange setup, so I'm not really sure...
On your computer, you would need to set your default gateway to the IP address of your friend's pc, and you'd also need to make sure that the DNS servers are set correctly to the ones provided by your ISP. Your friend would also need to make sure that his connection is shared. But what I'm not sure about is that if you change your default gateway etc. to use your friends connection, won't that mess up your own connection to the Internet which you need to VPN into his computer? |

all connections are through PPPoE.
ISP1 gives range of 172.x.x.x I have two dialers .. one for ISP1 and one for PC2 as ISP1 get connected. as ISP1 connects it goes in ISP range and I can access PC2's IP range because I am using default gateway of ISP1. now I can connect to PC2 with another dialer as i told you before. so system's default gateway becomes PC2 automatically. I tried to setup DNS of PC2/ISP2 in SPECIFIED DNS. so i guess my system get default gateway of his system. what do you think? again thanks for your quick replies. |

I'm really not sure on this... I've never done anything like this before.
If your ISP has given you a special connection allowing you to connect to others over VPN, does it tell you how you can share your Internet connection? |

Goto your VPN connection properties>networking>TCPIP properties>Click advanced>On the general tab un-check use default gateway on remote network
