Web Developer Going IT

Hi everyone

For the past few months I have been designing a web site for a new company. They asked if I would work for them on a full time bassis and I agreed. Now they are a new company and will start off with 5 employees including me. I have a little bit of networking knowledge but just in hooking up a home network. They will be using DSL and a Windows 2003 Server. I was curious if anyone knows of where I can find tutorials on using 2003 server and setting up a network in a small business environment.

My first day will be tomorrow so I will have to learn this stuff tonight, sounds like fun eh . They understand though that I'm not a IT guru but I would still like to know the basics before I go in, so I can get stuff running as smoothly as possible, less hair pulling that way.

Thanks everyone for your help

Wes

Since you're using Windows Server 2003, you'll have a nice extra called the Manage Your Server console. Lanuch this from the Start Menu, and you'll be able to setup the server how you want. You should find there lots of info there which tell you how to setup different parts of your server (file server, IIS server etc). There are also plenty of wizards which will guide you through the setup of different things.
