Wifi through a switch

I am adding a wifi hotspot to my network. Its the fourth one I am adding. I have read the tutorials on using a router for this and disabling DCHP and configuring a static IP address. I have done this for 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3 and 192.168.1.4. These all work fine when connected directly to the main router. However, if I connect 192.168.4 to a switch, and then to the main router, none of the wireless hotspots work. I have run out of main router connections.

Is it possible to use a router as a hotspot connected to a switch and then connected to the main router.

This is a wrt160n router using WPA2 security.

Need expert advise.

It should be possible, yes. Make sure you're not connecting the hotspot router's WAN port.

Its plugged into one of the four normal router ports.

I actually tried it again and it is working with 192.168.1.4.
