Win2k to win2k connectivity problem
I have 2 PC of which both are using win2k pro and have account created in both PC and manual assigned IP address.
Both PC can access internet. PC-1 can access the share folders at PC-2 but not vice versa as PC-2 had problem access the workgroup. Accessing the workgroup from PC-2 give "workgroup is not accessible" error message. I deleted and recreated the account called "misc" (member of administrator) at computer PC-2. Hence the problem was solved, the shared folder at computer PC-2 become accessible. However, when ever I change the password for that "misc" account, I cant access the workgroup again. What is wrong with that? I've the following checked - All PCs have TCP/IP installed. - All PCs have Netbios over TCP/IP enabled. - All PCs have the same workgroup. - All PCs have a unique computer name. - ALL PCs have network shares defined. - ALL NICS are on the same subnet (e.g. IP 192.168.2.* subnet mask 255.255.255.0). - MS Client and file & printer sharing are checked on each NIC. - All NICs have their node type = anything except p-node (peer to peer, or point-point). Check at cmd prompt with Ipconfig /all (XP/W2K) or winipcfg (W9X). - All 3rd party firewalls are disabled, uninstalled and deleted |

Do you have a misc account on the other computer? Are you keeping the passwords the same on both computers? |
