Wireless card disconnects ADSL line

I have two XP laptops and a DrayTek router connected to the ADSL phone line.

When I connect both laptops using network cables, everything works fine.

As soon as I unplug one network connection and insert the Cisco wireless card, the problems start. After a few minutes, the router will disconnect from the ADSL line and terminate the network connection with the other laptop. If I turn the router on and off again, it works for a few more minutes before happening again.

Anyone got any ideas about what is happening?

Dosen't sound like that wireless card is compatable with the router. Try a different card.

The IT support people at work say that it's the company standard and other people use it with no problems

This is not an easy problem to solve, since it can be caused by many different problems. First of all, when you are connected with your wireless card, do you experience poor performance like slow internet, downloading etc?

What hardware do you use? what is the make and model of your router and card?

Is the router near your computer?

Have you tried upgrading to the latest drivers for your card? And the latest firmware for your router?

I have updated the firmware and drivers. The router is a Vigor2600G and the card a Cisco AIR PCM350.

The router is near one laptop, but not the one with the wireless card.

When I have laptop A with network cable to the router, all is OK. When I plug in the wireless card to laptop B, the network connects wirelessly and everything is fine for a while. After 5 to 10 mins, laptop A says "poor network connection" and loses the connection to the router. I have to disable the network connection on laptop A then retsart it to make it connect again, but this lasts only for another 5 or 10 minutes.

I repeat, try a different card. Even if its the same type just a different card.

There should be logs in the router and, depending on os, concerning the wireless card. Perhaps they will shed some light.

You might ask the question why isn't this a IT issue if they support the card company wide? You shouldn't have to mess with it.
