Wireless setup cannot access internet through web browser

I posted this in the DNS forum and I do not have a DNS problem. We discovered I can not Telnet successfully. I tried IE and Opera and no success. I can ping successfully, and resolve dns. I was told I have anetworking problem.

Any clues.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the situation:

IE cannot access the internet when I am using my wireless setup. I am resolving IP addresses (NSLOOKUP) such as www.cnn.com. I can ping both IP adresses and website names successfully. Basically I can see the internet fine.

When I open IE and go to www.google.com for example, "The page cannot be displayed".

I can connect to my gateway, 192.168.0.1 via wireless no problem.

My firewall is disabled now also.

Any clues?

What does you ipconfig /all reveal? Is it using the proper DNS servers and gateway?

Three questions. Can you properly traceroute an ip address? When you plug an ethernet line in, are you able to properly access the internet?
Can ping/tracert the DNS server that is listed?

yes I can ping dns servers successfully. I have not tried a direct connection. I have another PC connected already that I can't disconnect.

Any other ideas?

Ok. I tried a direct (wired) connection via ethernet cable. Same problems. I get an IP 192.168.0.2 but still no internet access or telnet.

In the web browser can you type in an ip address instead of an DNS name?
...
Also I am sure but I noticed that you have both your router and your ISP's dns setup as your DNS servers. Can you try to manually fix your ip settings and see if that helps?

Oops. I have BlackIce firewall. I disabled this a while back. I just checked in Control Panel under "Firewall Client". Enable Firewall Client was checked. Unchecked it and it works like a champ.

Don't understand why there are 2 firewalls on this pc.

I have been working on this for 2 weeks, I feel stupid.

Well at least I learned a lot about networking.

Thanks for everyones help.
