Do some research. XP-home is not built to join networks, it only
works with the windows "workgroup" type stuff. If that's what your after it should work fine. XP pro as the server software? Not sure about that. |

If you want everything stored on the server and to be able to log on from any computer with your same profile you want a domain. For this, you'll need a proper server OS - Windows Server 2000 or 2003. Setting up a domain is quite complicated though and you'll need to do quite a bit of research first.
Once you have created a domain with 2000 or 2003, you have to use XP pro to access this domain - Windows XP home can't logon to the domain so that you can have the same profile etc. However, home can access shared folders and printers, but not have roaming profiles. XP pro isn't really server software and is not really suited to what you want. For example, it'll only let you have a limited number of client connections (I think this might be 10?)
