XP Slowing With Wireless

I have just added a D-Link DI-624 wireless router to my little network. The configuration looks like this:

DI-624
WAN---To DSL Modem
LAN1---To XP Box (HP 751N)
LAN4---To Eight Port Ethernet Switch

Eight Port Ethernet Switch
LAN2---To Mac G5
LAN3---To Mac Printer
LAN4---To Mac 8600
WAN---To DI 624

DWL 650 Wireless Card
Win 2K (Dell Laptop)

Everything works. The Macs see the PC's and vice versa. One printer services everyone on the network without problem.

The problem is with the XP box. When the XP's LAN connection is plugged into the wireless router everything works fine to begin with, but what I have noticed happening is the Page File Usage (visible from the chart in the task manager) slowly begins to creep up, and as it increases, everything on the network begins to slow down. When I take the XP box offline by disconnecting from the wireless router, everthing goes back to normal.

Right now I am running the Wireless Open System, but had been using WPA-PSK for security.

P.S. When I go back to my old configuration where the wireless is out of the network and the XP dials the DSL modem, allowing windows internet connection sharing for everyone else on the net, the problem doesn't happen.

Anybody have any idea what is going on with the XP?

Thanks - Jim

Yes, explorer.exe was running away, which apparently is a rather widespread problem due to a number of reasons.

I am happy to report though that my problem was a worm and is now resolved. I haven't run Norton AV on this machine in the past because my email client runs on the Mac, but the other day I did an email D/L on the PC as a test and got caught. Norton fixed it.
