    linksys

I have a few machines on a linksys router, and then one of the outputs of that router is split by a linksys hub onto two of my side-by-side computers. I don't use one of the computers anymore (it doesn't even have a mouse) but i want to be able to get files off of it through the other computer... is there a way to set this up without having to change usernames on the old computer? just by logging into the old one and having it on, can i access its files from my new one? step by step would be nice, as I am a newbie. thanks.

ok, first make sure the 2 PCs are part of the same work group, then you need to know at least a localuser / passwd w/ administrator privileges to login on the old one.

    now, from Start/Run ... type:

    \\oldcomputername\c$

you'll be prompted for those user/passwd as said before.

once typed in, you'll have full access to the hard drive.

is there any way to set up a workgroup without using a floppy or win disc from one comp to the other?
