Networking with dedicated computer, switch
alright.. i have a cable modem hooked up to my router. then there is 4 pluged into that, so i have a 5 port switch connected to that to extend the internet sharing. 4/5 ports are filled. i have a spare pentium 2 computer lieing around and was wondering. if i could use it as a file server/router and just hook the cable modem up to that and then the computer to a switch. if this is possible, what kinda software would i need to forward the ports like on the router i have now, and would i need 2 ehternet ports on the pentium 2? if you have any suggestions or stuff im open to anything. and if the above is possible would it be more efficient?

I would suggest that you load Linux onto the pentium 2, and when you load it you can specify that it act as a file server. Linux is great for older machines, it is not a memory hog like windows.
