    Router / Hub question

I'm planning on connecting 3 pc's located upstairs with one pc downstairs ,all networked to my cable modem.
Is it possible to connect the pc downstairs off a router and bring only one cable (from the router) upstairs connecting to a hub for the upstairs pc's. All machines have Win2K.

If so is a Cat5e cable ok to use ??

    thx in advance

Yes. There should be an "uplink" port in the switch/hub. The cable should run from a normal LAN port on the router up to the uplink plug in the 2nd switch/hub, then connect devices to the other ports on the hub.

Sometimes there is a small switch to change a port or sometimes there are "either-or" ports one for a local device, one for an uplink.
