Sharing a USB wireless internet connection through laptop to a TV

    HiHi

I've been trying to figure this out but i'm not that knowledgeable about these things.
I have a USB wireless account that I wish to share through my laptop to an Ethernet cable and into my TV.
I have got it all setup and "shared the internet connection" in the network and sharing center. but the TV just starts scanning and says there was a problem connecting to the router. you can set the IP and gateway setting independently on the TV can I do this so it can access the internet?
some instructions say i need a crossover cable is this correct?

    Regards and many thanks

I'm guessing the crossover cable thing might be a good idea. If you get the tools you can easily make one yourself. Or if you really want a good testing piece you can make a crossover adapter from a patch panel module and an RJ-45. Also, what about just wiring up the TV to a router in the first place?
