    Beginning with SSL

Hi, ive read a few guides regarding SSL.

I just have a few questions..

How do i propogate my SSL certificates. So when people visit my site the certificate is recognised.

Also, for SSL to be used, do viewers need to specify HTTPS://

or can i redirect HTTP requests to HTTPS requests?

    Thanks for the help

If you're only trying to propagate to a small number of people then you do it manually; give them the certificate on a disk or send it to them. How they go about installing it depends on their operating system. If you google for it you can find instructions for installing certificates.

If you're trying to propagate it to everyone on the internet, then you buy your certificate through a vendor. You can't do it yourself.

    Yes

Yes. I assume IIS has something similar to Apache's mod_rewrite that you could use for this.
