    Question Linux to XP

    Hello all,

Am completely lost in all this network stuff

I've got a crossover cable and so now I can connect my PC (linux RedHat9) to my dell laptop (xp).

I want to make my linux pc the only route for the internet and email and put all my mp3s on this box. (I'm on a phone line modem without a static ip address).

Eventually I want to make this my web server and be able to develop on my xp machine.

Question is how can I get to this.... I don't know what or how or any terminology or how to configure it so any step by step stuff or at least someone telling me what to do in technical terms would be great.

    Thanks very much.....

    Dan.

    The answer is Samba.
You can install the samba-server on your linux, so you create shares, share printers for windows-machines, even make a domaincontroller (with less function than win2000 or win2003, though)

get a download and a step by step guide via http://us4.samba.org/

    hope this'll help
