Cant login SQL*Plus
i have installed Oracle10g, but i cant log into SQL*Plus.
it prompts me for the Username, Password and Host String. i key in the SYSTEM with the corresponding password, but i din work fine, showing an error message below: Quote:
what should i do to fix this problem? in fact, i can log into Web-based Enterprise Manager using the same SYSTEM (password). i am new to it and hope to learn more about that... -- thank you ![]() |

There is a file on your local PC/workstation called tnsnames.ora.
You have to edit that file and add the information about the name of ther SID (Oracle instance) you want to connect to.. The file in the distribution has example entries. |

what should i change in order to log in? cant really understand the syntax shown.
by the way, why i cant go through the web based Enterprise Manager now? i type the same URL with http://<hostname>:5500 (listen port)/em but an error message was shown. what have i did wrong? the following is the error shown: Quote:

the question is did you changed the system password while installing Oracle... it must be changed either when you are installing Oracle or after first login...
any way iam not sure of this but i think you can login as the user scott with password tiger and chang the system password..try |

Are you shure the instance is running/has successfully started??
