oracle 9i database server re-installation

oracle 9i database server re-installation

using redhat 8 have just uninstalled oracle9i database server from one user account using runInstaller with the intention of reinstalling into a new oracle acount. Oracle account has all the required environmental variables set ie.
ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_BASE etc as per the excellent install instructions from puschitz.com site, but the runInstaller insists that it wants access to oraInventory in previous account. Have looked in vain for any residual file from the previous install that is directing installation to old account . Anyone have any ideas?

re-installing oracle

okay, found it - oracle inventory pointerfile - /etc/oraInst.loc
