Oracle8/Excel database query odbc error

Hi all.

I'm getting this error when using Excel to link to my oracle 8 database. The MS ODBC driver for Oracle is present and I had the dsn set up correctly (as it had been working) but now I have the error:

"error while trying to retrieve text for ORA-00000
Driver's SqlSetConnectAttr failed"

I had seen the Driver's SqlSetConnectAttr failed error before but thus was remedied by reinstalling Oracle on the pc running Excel. This didn't work this time though and Excel has also been reinstalled.

Can anyone please shed any light on this as it is driving me mad.

Your help greatly appreciated.
