problem with SQL*PLUS

Iam trying to create a newdatabase..
when Iam trying to logon to sql*plus it says "
$ sqlplus /nolog

SQL> connect /AS SYSDBA
ERROR:
ORA-09925: Unable to create audit trail file

ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

thanks for the quick response shammat..
Actually the problem here is with the OS user account.. which didnt have suffiecient privilages to create database..I got the solution for it just before ur reply. .anyway..thanks once again..

I have the same problem. How did you solve it? I get this
sqlplus> connect / as sysdba
