Removing Oracle 8i from WinXP

hi everyone,

I'm trying to install Workflow into Oracle and i'm having a nightmare of a time. Can anyone even remotely explain this process? In addition, I installed the database server and kept getting a java.exe error window that popped up every 5 seconds. So i tried to remove Oracle using the universal installer "deinstall". It removed everything....except left the OracleService<Hostname> service in, didn't remove the directory files...and when i try to delete the files it won't let me....

So basically i'm having a nightmare with Oracle...can anyone help? Maybe I should just go back to SQL Server....

You can remove OracleService<SID> using Oracle oradim utility, an example is given below

oradim -del -sid myDB

please check the documentation for correct syntax and usage.

That is also right when you try to deinstall oracle using Oracle Universal Installer it still leaves some file to be removed manually, you have to remove these files yourself, if any file does not allow to remove it, shutdown your computer restart it then remove it safely.
