Smile Subquery with MAX and SUM

I have a table with the following fields:

code - date - n.º of days

and I would like to select the max(date) from the table and sum to it the nº of days.

For example: The code nº 1 was open on 01-01-2005 and must remain open during 10 days, so it must remain open 'till 11-01-2005.

Which query shall I use?

thanks in advance
