tables of REFs

I have a nested table which is a table of REF values to a type of member

I can insert like this :

INSERT INTO TABLE(SELECT playerlist FROM hometeams h
WHERE h.teamname ='MENS A')
SELECT REF(s)
FROM studentmembers s
WHERE s.stuid = 51702114 OR s.stuid = 12345678;

How do i get it out? i.e.


SELECT ? FROM TABLE(SELECT playerlist FROM hometeams WHERE id = 1) p

please help, needed urgently!
