TNS Protocol Adapter Error
as soon as i enter the username and password (system/manager) in the oracle 8i installed on windows 2000 professional platform it sometimes give me a error saying
ORA-12560:TNS  rotocol adapter error and sometimes it works fine .Plz help, what should i do ?

Goto "Control Panel" and click on "Services" icon now try to find out a service name like "OracleService<SID>" in services window. Check the status of this service, if it is not started and startup type is manually then whenever you start your computer you have to start it manually. You can also set its startup type automatic, so whenever your computer is bootup this service is started automatically, somtime due to any hardware problem OS does not start it automatically at the boot time then you have to start it manually.
