What is application server?
Hi,

Recently I've downloaded oracle 8i and installed it on my computer. After that i saw another application server which i do not know the purpose of that server...Can someone tell me what is it? I thought i just need to install the oracle 8i and be done with it...It turned out that i still have a lot to learn!

It is a middle tier product that would act as a reporting or web code type server. It would serve up data to be formatted by your front end.

hi there, thanks for the reply...however, how do i login to my local Oracle Enterprise Manager? I tried using the default username/password but still couldn't manage to get in...Am i doing anything wrong?

username: system
password: manager
management server: 127.0.0.1

can someone shed some light?
