WinXP Client to Linux Server settings

In the past I've setup many Windows Server to Windows Client connections. This is my first attempt at connecting a Windows client to Linux server using Oracle. So, my question is, other then making the net8 config edits are there additional changes I need to make in order to establish making a connect to my Linux Server from Windows?

I've always hated setting up tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files, guess I was never really good at it...
