Other Language - Progress - users with visual impairments

This is a Progress question.

We will be converting from Windows XP to Windows 7.

We have some users with visual impairments, and They need to change the Windows desktop settings to show text, etc at greater than 100%. But the window with the Progress application stays the same size. The text inside the Progress application window gets bigger, with problems with text truncation and wrapping.

What we need is for the progress application window to get bigger, when the user changes the desktop settings to greater than 100%. Is there a way to do this?

We have Progress Version 9.1B.

Thanks, Wayne

Who makes this software? "Progress" is an English word, so we can't even google for it.

Progress comes from progress.com. It is a database development software. I am not surprized you have not heard of it.

progress.com has been no help. They could not get over the fact that we are using an old version of Progress.

Does the new version of progress do what you want? If so, buy the upgrade. If not, tell them that upgrading won't help.

Enterprise solutions aren't something you just procure a $99 DVD for and upgrade. I'm guessing it's not that simple and probably involved no less than five digits left of the decimal. Just a guess. I've no experience with progress though so I'm going to withhold further comment.

Well, yes. First of all, it is not my decision. And any upgrading would involve re-testing all our applicaitons. They really want some kind of magic bullet that will work with what we have.

Very true, but Enterprise solutions are also something that you expected to be supported very well even after a newer version is released (of course, I don't know just how old version 9.1B is, so I'm going to withhold further comment as well).

Really I think this comes down to the application though. Windows can't force an application to use a larger text size or to properly handle a larger text size, it can only suggest that an application do it. Windows 7 has a screen magnifier that would work with it, but I think Windows XP has one too. I don't imagine much has changed between XP and 7 in terms of windows telling an application to use a larger font size.
