Movind up in directory and CVS commands

    Hello All,

    I have some questions:

Suppose I am working on /home/A1/A2/A3/
My script is in A3 directory.
From A3 directory how can I move up to A1 directory and execute some command there.
More over, using the script from A3 directory I want to use "grep" command for A1 directory, then how can I store the output of grep command in any variable?

And do you have any idea or any suggestion for how to use CVS (Concurrent Versions System) commands in perl?

If possible and if you can then please try to help me.
