    perlbrew on MacBook Pro

When attempting to install the perlbrew package on my MacBook Pro I get the following message during the install stage. Since it installs to the local home directory, I don't understand the permissions problem when trying to run the "mkdir" command.
    Terminal input and output:

    Code:
    Vernons-MacBook-Pro:~ vernonkerr$
    Vernons-MacBook-Pro:~ vernonkerr$ export PERLBREW_ROOT=/opt/perl5
    Vernons-MacBook-Pro:~ vernonkerr$ curl -L 302 Found | bash
% Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed

It's not trying to install in your local home directory. It's trying to install in /opt/perl5. If you want it installed in your home directory, don't do
    Code:
    export PERLBREW_ROOT=/opt/perl5
If you do want it installed in /opt/perl5, then you'll need root privileges.
