Hello there. I have searched all over the net for this script with no luck perhaps, someone here can tell me where I can find it or give me a rough idea of how to get it started.
ok here it goes. I need I script that will do the following. Fill out a form. You can see a sample form at URL once the form is filled, open a template1.txt, replace the info in the template provided by the form. (i.e. title and graphic name) save the whole thing as "GRAPHIC NAME".shtml to a perticular directory. then open template2.txt, replace the info in the template with the information provided by the form. (i.e. title and graphic name, category, plus a few hidden inputs) search for a "AVAILABLE NUMBER HERE" and automatically added to the listing. add the template to the existing file. and save it. it will use this format --------------------------------------- AVAILABLE NUMBER HERE|TITLE|http://panamas.net/html/"GRAPHIC NAME".shtml|1-Feb-2001|CATEGORY|SUB-CATEGORY1~SUB-CATEGORY1~ETC|||Panama|working@my.net|8|No|No|0|0|No|http://www.panamas.net/cgi-script/cardnew/imageszz/"GRAPHIC NAME"zz.jpg --------------------------------------- there are a couple more files that I want to open and add the same info in diffrent formats, but If I get the first two done I can modify the script for the rest of it. Basically what I need is a script the will add the same info to diffrent databases, using just one form. Please let me know if anyone can help me with this. Or where I can find a similar script that I can modify to fit my needs. Thanks. |

buddy ..
i think you're going to have to program that one yourself, or get a friend to do it. the chances that you're going to find a script to do something that specific are slim-to-none. good luck though. |

One question...I was confused as to whether a user would be filling in the form or the script would be doing it...
If it's the user input way, then when you bind the parameters from the form using CGI.pm they are there for whatever purposes you want. Other than that, it sounds like basic text processing...

user submit
First of all thanks for the replies.
The form will be user submitted. I'm trying to tie all of my databases into one. And since they all have the same info but use diffrent formats, i figure that the way to go would be to start a script for it. You see, I can modify scripts to match my need. But I have no clue of how to get one going, that's why I was searching for one similar script that I could find of the net to work with. So to you it might be basic text processing...but for me it's just a big hurdle at this moment. Anyways. If you or anyone can start one that I can use or point me to one thats already made it will be of great help to me |
