I am just getting into PHP and I must say I am finding it a lot more efficient and intutitive than Perl CGI.
What does Perl CGI have over PHP? It'll be interesting to know. |

PHP may be more well suited for web programming than PerlCGI. However, you have to remember that Perl has the ability to a lot of powerful things outside of or in addition to Web programming.
PHP won't "kill" Perl. On the other hand, Perl won't "kill" PHP either. They play well together .

Yeah, he's right. Perl is so much more powerful than PHP it's not even funny, but PHP is truly designed for making webpages. PHP takes everything that was the least bit difficult in perl, and turns it into an annoying function that has a stupid syntax
. PHP doesn't even support any kind of fork() function (at least as far as I know), so there's no way you can create a server daemon with it. |

I'd say PHP will definitely become more popular for webdeveloping as time goes on. It's works almost perfectly with it. Perl isn't going away however, just ebbing on that front.

I think you guys will be surprised when perl 6 is released. The performance increases as well as the pure ability of it will put it back on top again.
