Adding transparency to all the colors of a gif
Hi folks
I'd like to add full transparency to all the gray colors and the white of these two background gifs which generate shadows: http://ied.gospelcom.net/images/shadow1x140px.gif http://ied.gospelcom.net/images/verticalshadow.gif I understand it is possible to do this. Paintshop Pro won't. Ulead Smartsaver Pro 3 is claimed to be able to add transparency across different colors, but I can't seem to make it do this. Can anyone advise on either how to use Ulead, or any other software that will achieve this? Many thanks Tony |

Can't seem to get at the images you posted.
IF I understand your post correctly, make you images in photoshop with a white background. When all is said and done, delete your background layer by right-clicking on your background layer and click 'delete layer'. Let me know if this does the trick.

IF I understand your post correctly, make you images in photoshop with a white background. When all is said and done, delete your background layer by right-clicking on your background layer and click 'delete layer'. Sorry, my mistake! They are there now. Not having Photoshop (!!), I remain unclear as to whether this is possible. What I have read elsewhere suggests that it is actually impossible to add transparency across different colors to a gif, and that all that is really happening is that some programs will merely change the colors that have been specified to a single compromise color, and then make that transparent. If that is indeed the case, I am wanting a far too big range of gray shdades to be made transparent!! Thanks for your wisdom on this Tony |
