always saves as .PSD, even when I select JPG/PNG
As the topic says, My Photoshop CS always saves as .PSD. Even Jpeg/PNG files. The thing is, when I re-open them it says it's in an invalid PSD format. I change the extension .PSD to .PNG and it works fine (if it was saved as PNG).
Anyone had this problem before? How do I solve this? |

Choose one of the export or save as options. That should fix it. (I haven't used PS in a long time, so I'm sorry I can't be of more help.)

So you are sure that when you click save, you open the drop down list and select jpg?

yes, I am absolutely precise. I select Save As, then I sepect JPEG, It even shows the JPEG Image Quality dialog. I choose it then save it.
Let's say I save the picture as "coolness" with jpeg format. It'd save as coolness.psd. But here's the catch - If I change the extension .psd to .jpeg, it works. If I try to open coolness.psd, it reads invalid format. |

Are you using File/Save As or File/Save For Web?
I haven't had problems using File/Save For Web. |

No, I am using "Save As". I am NOT using Save For Web, since I have no reason to save as a .GIF. But saving as a .GIF works fine.
