angled lines

Hi,

Im a newbie to phototshop anyway heres my problem, i am designing a site and i want it to be straight lines instead of curves anyway it seems when draw the lines to the angle that i want they go grey and look rubbish (bitmappy).

Anyway i was wondering if somebody can please tell me how to make the lines smooth at any angle and also how to get them to stay at the orginal colour.

Thanks

Andy

Please indicate what tool you are using (but the way I see it, you're are using a pen tool).

If you want to have straight lines you can use a shape tool and select a line tool, polygonal lasso tool , pen tool, brush or pencil. When using a polygonal lasso tool or pen or brush tool, try click and hold the shift key then start to drag (for brush tool) or click (for polygonal lasso tool) the mouse. You can also use the shift key to create angled strokes

If using the pen tool, hold the shift key down while dragging the line. This will ensure the line is going straight.

What he is talking about is the aliased quality of low angle lines. Low angle meaning slightly tilted. Even if these kinds of lines are anti-aliased (smoothed), they will look jaggy. Thats just the nature of 1 pixel-width lines. The way around is to add to the width of the line-- it will still have jaggy edges, it just wont be as apparent. I think this is all correct.

And is it true that lines close to vertical don't show this problem, where lines close to horizontal do?
