Another background question
I am a photoshop rookie and am working on cleaning up some of my company's logos. When I open the file in photoshop, it appears clean with no background. When the logo is inserted into a file or opened with Windows Picture Viewer, it also looks fine, but prints with a gray background.
I tried using the magic eraser tool and it appeared to take everything out, but when I save it as a .jpg and open it up with a different program and print, the same thing happens, the gray backgound is there again. Any suggestions? I would like to be able to use the higher res jpgs versus the bmps that I have... |

JPEG does not support transparency. You will have to stick with gifs or another filetype that supports it.
Depending on what you're using the image for, you could always give the "illusion" that its transparent by changing the backround color of the image to whatever the color is that you are putting it over. Can be a pain, but if you really want to stick with JPEG, there really is no other choice. |

I don't need to stick with jpeg, but liked the format for the resolution. I changed the setting to gif and the background is certainly gone, but I am not sure if all of the settings are correct. I am using Photoshop 6.0.

Sometimes with gif files they do lose resolution depending on how ur saving them. when you save it, just before you press ok photoshop should be showing you the finished product. I find that all you have to do it play around with it and then you can get the resolution you need.
And quality of course. |
