Any Apps That Can Edit Photoshop Text?
I'm curious if there are any tools out there, other than Photoshop, that are capable of editing vector text in a PSD file.
Our designer does all of his mock-ups in Photoshop, and saves them as PSD files. I have Adobe CS4, so I have no problems working with these files. However, my assistant does not (nor are we able to purchase it for him).
Because we try to do everything with copy and paste, I would really like to find an affordable program for him to use to copy the text from the mock-up and be able to paste it into a Web page.
We're not talking about any major text (otherwise, we would pull that from a Word document or something). We're talking more about very simple, short text that would be used as the "alt" text for an image on the Web site or something. For instance, if our designer develops a header banner that says "This is a test" in a custom font that can't be effectively recreated with CSS, I want my assistant to be able to copy the text from that banner and insert it into the "alt" tag when he adds the image to the page.
I've tried the default installations of GIMP and Paint Shop Pro XI. Neither of those programs are able to recognize text layers in PSD files as vector graphics. They both rasterize those layers before opening the file.
We both run Linux and Windows, so we can work with any programs that run on either platform. The app doesn't have to be free, but anything over ~$150 is probably out of the question.
If you know of any programs that are capable of editing Photoshop text (specifically, capable of allowing the user to select and copy the text), please let me know. Thank you.
